Marit S. Haugen has a doctorate (dr.polit.) in sociology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. She is research manager at the Centre for Rural Research in Trondheim. Her research focuses on gender issues, work and life quality, work and gender identity, images of the rural and rural tourism. She has published in international journals and books in the area of gender issues in agriculture and rural communities.
